THE ART OF EARLY MUSIC - 2ND. SHOW (delovno gradivo)

(32:30) In the second show, The Art of Early Music, you would have the chance to get to know more in detail about the importance of the interpretation on the one hand and the technical skills of playing early music on the other. The musicians of the early music ensemble Harmonia Antiqua Labacensis will share their views on the significance of good and constructive relationships and furthermore reveal a bit of the notion of just how their rehearsal process looks like, bearing in mind, that there are no recordings left behind from the history’s legacy and that they can mostly relay on written scores and texts describing the knowledge of how to play the music at that time, the spirit of the era and the mainstream lifestyle then. Putting the two aspects of good relationships and the discutability of the historically informed performance together, we can clearly discern that the musicians’ willingness to adapt their own vision to the understanding of the colleagues and the composer on the one side and the need to have thier own right on the other side, is put to the test over and over again. And to make the situation even more complicated, there is the subject of freedom. How much freedom do the musicians have in interpreting the early music pieces? There must be something else to get to know, a missing part of the puzzle to be discovered, since almost all of the musicians say, that despite all the above written, they still have lot’s of interpretational freedom. To solve this puzzle, you are kindly invited to watch the second show. Explore and enjoy the depths and inspiring beauties of early music further.
